Another old tree – the original was produced back in 2006, with the help of Anne Tinkler and Sandra Metcalfe, both of whom traced their ancestry back to George of Tolleshunt D’Arcy. I’ve since added several branches, notably the Surrey side of the family, using census records.
It features 63 individuals who were born with the name Beard. The point of origin is Messing and Inworth, and one branch of the family stayed local – the Tolleshunts, West Mersea and Colchester. Another branch went to Surrey and thereafter to Tooting, but some of them cam back to Essex via Rainham.
I believe it unlikely that this line will be taken backwards much further if at all, but it could still be widened out – certainly living relatives of this family bearing the Beard name may still live in south west Essex and Surrey.
